Competitor Monitoring News: Order From Amazon, Collect From 7-Eleven Stores - Amazon's Latest Initiative

Always one step ahead of its competitors, online retailer Amazon is now testing order deliveries to 7-Eleven stores across the US.

The US-based company has installed collection lockers in a selection of 7-Eleven stores. Benefits of collecting at such an outlet over your home includes not having to wait at home for a delivery, keeping the goods safe from thieves and keeping the goods dry instead of having them left outside your home in the rain.

Online shoppers can collect their goods from the locker with the use of pin numbers, which are sent to the customer in the online transaction. Customers may one day be able to pay for the goods at 7-Eleven stores or other outlets; Walmart recently approved payment by online shoppers at collection points in stores.

The initiative could also prove very successful in the case of goods such as groceries. The collection points will generate welcome traffic for the locker hosts. If the test proves a winner, it could be the start of collection lockers in coffee shops or other local stores in the US.
