Department store group House of Fraser enjoyed its best ever Christmas sales period in 2012. Internet sales rose by almost half in the six-week period to January 5.
The retailer reported like-for-like sales increased by 6.3 per cent over the six weeks of activity. Sales increased across all categories with strong demand recorded in the areas of fashion and beauty.
"With the strong sales performance in the period and a close focus on margins and operational efficiencies, we expect to report growth in full-year earnings in line with previous indications, said Chairman Don McCarthy. House of Fraser has 60 department stores in operation in the UK and Ireland.
